7th graders are continuing to work on constructions with compasses and straight edges.

8th graders are still working on functions. Today we played function math0 (bingo).

On Friday, the 7th graders began their unit on constructions using a compass and a straight edge. They were challenged to complete such tasks as copying a line segment and creating a "perfect" target using only these two tools. We will continue to use our compasses over the next few weeks.

The eighth graders are still working on functions. Many of them will have an assignment to complete over the weekend if they did not complete it in class.

I hope you all had a fabulous long weekend. Today in class the students worked on websites that reinforced the skills we've been discussing. 7th grade worked on transformations. 8th grade worked on functions. The students have a paper with these websites if you would like to view them.

Reminder to 7th graders- bring your compasses to class starting Thursday!

7th grade took a quiz today over geometric transformations. They do not have homework this weekend.

8th grade continued to work on functions. They only have homework if they did not complete Thursday's homework.

7th grade has a quiz tomorrow over transformations and geometry vocabulary. They need to study tonight for tomorrow's quiz. We will be starting geometric constructions next week. If your child has a compass, please send it with them starting next week. They will need it everyday starting Tuesday.

8th grade is still working on functions. They will have to complete an assignment tonight for homework if they did not finish it in class today.

I did not get the opportunity to post yesterday's work, but neither grade level had homework. 7th grade will have a quiz Friday over transformations and geometry vocabulary.

7th grade continued to work on reflections. They have homework tonight to practice reflecting images across the x and y axis.

8th grade students worked on functions. They had to do problems 5-15 off the worksheet. If they did not finish in class, they must finish it for homework.

January 14, 2008

7th grade math students learned about the reflection of figures across the x or y axis. They learned a song to help them remember the rules for reflections.

8th grade math students are learning about the union and intersection of sets. They have a homework assignment that allows them to practice this skill.

Welcome to my blog!!! I am inexperienced blogger, so this should be a learning experience for us all. 7th grade math is starting a new unit on Geometry. Today the seventh graders will be learning about translations. 8th grade students are also starting a new unit on functions and intersections or unions of sets. Today we will start working with Venn Diagrams.
